Hi-Mar Striper Club Spring Tournament
The annual Hi-Mar Spring Fishing Tournament to benefit Jason’s Dreams for Kids was held Saturday and Sunday, June 5th & 6th. As a “Points Tournament,” on the ASA/Mercury Striper Series schedule, the American Striper Association had several members fish this local New Jersey tournament. The true winner of the Tournament was Jason’s Dreams for Kids as a large check was donated to them from the proceeds of the tournament.
The predicted thunder storms never materialized, but at times, the wind was a factor.
Two new tournament records were set on consecutive days. Emilo JR Santos, on Out on a Limb, brought in a 50.6 lb striper on Saturday only to be topped by Harold Smith on Scales & Stripes with a 52.1 lb. bass on Sunday. The fish caught by Team Scales & Stripes was tagged and released alive after the weigh-in. Other fish weighed-in were filleted and donated to the Monmouth / Ocean Food Bank in Neptune to feed the hungry.
The winners of the tournament for a two fish total were:
1st. Out on a Limb, Emilo Jr. Santos, 87.95 lbs.
2nd. Prime Coat, Buddy Hughes, 80.15 lbs.
3rd. Eastwick, Raul Delaprida, 71.40 lbs.
4th. Hapi Daze, Rick Nunn, 70.90 lbs.
5th. Runoff, Rocco Casso, 70.15 lbs.
